Water flowing into a cup

Water flowing into a cup

Drinking water is something we often take for granted.  Did you ever stop to think about how some people don’t even know what vessel they should use to drink water?  This is something we should explore.

Imagine you are sitting around and decide that you want to get a glass of water.  Now imagine you didn’t know what a glass was and only knew you wanted water.  Sadly, this is the very same way tens of people in the world feel every day.  Believe it or not, there are places in the world where people have never even heard of a cup. Instead, they have to be resourceful and use whatever is around them to take the place of a cup.  Fortunately, there is something built into our bodies that can be used in place of a cup:  our hands.  By putting one’s hands together and shaping them in such a way as to effectively hold water (cupping them), it is possible to gather and contain fluid in one’s hands for enough time for said liquid to reach the mouth.

While it is not nearly as nice to use your hands in place of a cup when drinking water, it is acceptable and gets the job done.  With that said, it is a good thing that we have all taken the time to remember those in the world that can’t drink water as conveniently as the rest of us.
