A Rebel's Castle

A Rebel's Castle

Choosing whether to conform or rebel is something that occurs in the life of all people.  In the life of a typical American, it is something that will occur a multitude of times.  There are many different factors that often force one to have to either conform or rebel.  Furthermore, there are many different factors that cause one to decide which route to take.  Factors such as innocence, experience, race, class, gender, and religious beliefs all impact the decisions one will make in regards to conformity.  While many people often do not realize it, most decisions that are made have some degree of conformity or rebellion involved in both the decision making process as well as the final decision.  It is also important to realize that even through rebellion, there is typically some aspect of conformity.  The decisions one makes in regards to rebellion or conformity are based mainly on his or her personality, self-esteem, and environment.

Most people would rather go through life without sticking out or causing a great deal of controversy.  It is because of this that many people choose to conform rather than rebel, even when they have to make that decision about something that they do not entirely agree with or believe in.  Everyone that has gone through school knows that it is very difficult to make it through with a high self-esteem if you are considered strange or an outcast.  Because of this, most people will try to find a group of people to fit in with in order to increase their own self-confidence as well as to protect themselves from others that would make fun of them.  As the saying goes, there is strength in numbers.   Another reason why people will conform is because of fear in regards to what would happen to them if they did not.
